North Carolina Community Foundation establishes new affiliate in Jones County
The board of directors of the North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF) announces the establishment of an affiliate organization in Jones County, according to NCCF Ron Scheeler, chairman of the board.
Community leaders have held several recent meetings to learn about the services provided by the North Carolina Community Foundation and its benefits to local communities and donors. An organizational board of directors is being formed to guide the process of establishing this new affiliate. This board includes Reta Britt, Don Fowler, Wayne Sayland, Chris Henderson, Ivy Reid, Dan Ryan and Dr. Tim Lightfield. The board plans to add several more interested members at the next meeting, scheduled for May 15 at the First Citizens Bank in Mayville. For further information, contact any board member; the NCCF Regional Associate Peggy Birkemeier at 1-888-375-8115 or Tia Douglass at 252-729-5491; or visit the NCCF website at nccommunityfoundation.org
The Jones County Community Foundation is the 59th affiliate of the NCCF, which supports organizations across the state through a central infrastructure that includes funds management, legal, accounting, data processing, communications and other administrative services.
Tax-deductible contributions can be made by any organization or individual towards the creation of a new Community Fund, which will be managed and allocated for the benefit of Jones County. Contributions should be made payable to the Jones County Community Fund and mailed to North Carolina Community Foundation, Landmark Center, 4601 Six Forks Road, Suite 524, Raleigh, NC 27609. Once this fund has reached its minimum balance, the board will be initiating a grants program to benefit other local nonprofit organizations.
Donors also can establish advised or designated funds for their own causes with an investment of at least $5,000. The Frost Park Endowment, established in 2002, is designated to support a town park in Maysville. Once an endowed fund has been established, donations may be added in any amount and at any time.
