NC Community Foundation Awards a Quarter Million Dollars in Scholarships Statewide
The North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF) has awarded 243 scholarships totaling approximately $257,000 in 2007, according to an announcement by C. Ronald Scheeler, chairman of the board.
The scholarships have been awarded to recent high school graduates and other qualified adults seeking higher education at public and private universities and community colleges throughout North Carolina. Scholarship endowments are held by the NCCF for most of its 59 affiliate foundations statewide. The scholarships are among 1,300 grants totaling more than $4.9 million that the NCCF has awarded to nonprofits across North Carolina in the past year.
“We are extremely proud to partner with our funders to help make higher education a possibility for so many deserving recipients,” said Jennifer Tolle Whiteside, NCCF’s president and CEO. “These partnerships are helping us truly make a difference across North Carolina.”
