Women’s giving preferences reflect their upbringing and lifelong societal conditioning. Women givers often have a desire to be agents of change, matching their personal interests with their charitable contributions. They enjoy connecting with others, involvement and value peer influence rather than massive public recognition.

Women’s Giving is Growing across North Carolina
While women have historically been tireless and passionate volunteers, they have less frequently focused their energy and talent as problem-solving donors and grant-makers. That is now changing with the establishment of Women’s Giving Funds.

Through the establishment of a Women’s Fund Giving Group, women from across the state can direct their charitable interests in focused, purposeful and strategic ways. Like volunteerism, philanthropy is a collective endeavor. However, because these funds are more strategic in approach, they allow members to solve issues and problems right at the source. At the same time, through the women’s giving group, women can enjoy the involvement, participation, and camaraderie of being part of a cause-driven group.

The North Carolina Community Foundation continues its long history of supporting women as philanthropists and has worked to establish new women’s giving groups to serve communities across the state while continuing to the build the NCCF Statewide Women’s Fund. Please click on the links below to learn more about each group and its grantmaking program.
