{"tinyMCE_dummy":"","title":"Ashe County Community Foundation awards more than $10,000 in grants","url":"\/news\/ashe-county-community-foundation-awards-more-than-10000-in-grants","meta":{"title":"","description":"","excludeFromSitemap":"No"},"ordinal":999,"content":"<p>The <a href=\"\/communities\/northwestern\/ashe-county\">Ashe County Community Foundation<\/a> has awarded $10,060 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.<\/p>\r\n<p>The board of advisors granted:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>$670 to Appalachian State University for Appalachian senior programs<\/li>\r\n<li>$500 to the Ashe County Arts Council for the Powers of Poetry Project with Phillip Shabazz<\/li>\r\n<li>$700 to Ashe County High School Band Boosters Club Inc. for halftime show prop stands<\/li>\r\n<li>$500 to the Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation for the Ashe Medication Assistance Program<\/li>\r\n<li>$500 to the Ashe Services for Aging for therapeutic raised garden beds<\/li>\r\n<li>$600 to Aspire Youth &amp; Family for Kids at Work!<\/li>\r\n<li>$500 to Carolina Cross Connection for a home repair program<\/li>\r\n<li>$1,000 to Children&rsquo;s Center of Surry, Inc. for Ashe County Girls Circle and Council for Boys<\/li>\r\n<li>$750 to Imagination Ashe for Caboose Kids<\/li>\r\n<li>$500 to Macon County Public Health for Double Up Food Bucks<\/li>\r\n<li>$840 to Make-A-Wish Central and Western North Carolina for Fund-A-Wish in Ashe County<\/li>\r\n<li>$500 to the Museum of Ashe County for Veterans Hall preservation project<\/li>\r\n<li>$500 to the North Carolina Symphony for the Music Discovery for Ashe County preschoolers<\/li>\r\n<li>$2,000 to Partnership of Ashe for Planting the Seeds to Read<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Funds for the grants came from ACCF&rsquo;s community grantmaking fund, the Daniel Lee \"Dan\" Eldreth Memorial Endowment and the Melinda Hamrick Children's Fund Endowment.<\/p>\r\n<p>&ldquo;We are proud to support these organizations because they are essential to Ashe County,&rdquo; said Linda Slade, advisory board president of the Ashe County Community Foundation. \"We value the generosity of those who have given to our efforts to support philanthropy in our community.\"<\/p>\r\n<p>ACCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board.
